EverSafe Chimney Sweep gets calls for gas fireplace cleaning from La Canada Flintridge and from neighbors in Flintridge and La Crescenta. The 2009 Station Fire burned within La Canada Flintridge city limits, and the foothill neighborhoods still face ember risk whenever Santa Ana winds blow. A chimney cap with a sound spark arrestor screen is the first defense at the roofline. We check the mesh for rust and gaps and confirm the cap is fastened tightly, since strong wind can lift a loose one off the flue.

Typical construction
tall masonry chimneys on sloped lots, multi-flue stacks, and gas fireplaces vented through hillside rooflines
In La Canada Flintridge, EverSafe plans roof access before the visit, because a tall chimney on a sloped lot needs safe footing for a full inspection. Once on the roof, we check the cap and spark arrestor screen, the crown, and the flashing where the stack meets the roof. Inside, a camera shows the flue liner from top to bottom. When a home has more than one flue, each one gets its own entry in the written report, so a gas fireplace flue and a wood-burning flue are never lumped together. Draft and carbon monoxide checks are part of every gas fireplace visit here.

Altadena, the unincorporated foothill community above Pasadena
EverSafe serves Altadena with one question in mind: is this chimney safe to use again? The January 2025 Eaton Fire burned through the community, and a chimney that is still standing can hide damage. Radiant heat cracks crowns and clay flue tiles. Embers and ash settle on the smoke shelf. Caps warp or work loose. We look at the stack from the roof, run a camera down the flue, check the firebox and damper, and test draft before anyone lights a fire. Gas inserts also get a carbon monoxide reading. You receive a written condition report with photos to keep on file or share with an insurer, a contractor, or a buyer.
View nearby cityPasadena, from Linda Vista and the Arroyo Seco east to Eaton Canyon
EverSafe serves Pasadena neighborhoods from Linda Vista and the Arroyo Seco to Bungalow Heaven and the streets near Eaton Canyon. The safety questions change with the fireplace. An older brick chimney needs its liner, mortar and crown checked, because clay tiles crack after years of heating and cooling. A converted gas log set needs a damper clamp and a clear flue. A factory-built firebox needs its metal chimney sections and cap inspected for rust and gaps. Every visit includes a draft test, and gas units get a carbon monoxide reading. The written report lists what is sound, what needs work, and what should not be used yet.
View nearby cityMontrose, in the La Crescenta-Montrose foothills below the San Gabriel Mountains
Montrose homes went up over several decades, so EverSafe finds original masonry chimneys and prefabricated fireplace systems on neighboring streets. Each calls for a different safety check. On masonry, we look at the crown, mortar joints and clay liner, and run a camera when a flue has gone years without being opened. On prefabricated units, we check the metal chimney sections, the firebox panels and the cap for rust or gaps. Gas log conversions get a carbon monoxide reading and a damper check. The written report spells out which findings affect safety and which are routine upkeep you can schedule later.
View nearby cityAlhambra and the western San Gabriel Valley
Alhambra has a large stock of older brick homes with original masonry chimneys, and an idle fireplace is where EverSafe looks hardest. Nests, fallen mortar or a missing cap can block a flue with no sign from the room. We sweep, run a camera, test draft, and take a carbon monoxide reading on gas conversions. You get a written answer on whether the fireplace is safe to light.
View nearby citySan Marino and the central San Gabriel Valley
A San Marino home can have several fireplaces, and EverSafe treats each flue as its own safety item. We check the cap, crown and liner on every one, test draft in the rooms where fires are actually lit, and mark any flue that should stay closed until it is repaired. Ornamental surrounds get a clearance check for nearby woodwork. The written report lists each fireplace separately, with photos.
